Pinduoduo signed a memorandum of understanding with the Royal Danish Consulate General in Shanghai on Nov. 5 to strengthen cooperation and introduce more quality Danish brands to consumers in China.
The signing ceremony took place on the opening day of the China International Import Expo (CIIE), an important trade event. During the expo, which ends on Nov. 10, consumers can buy the products exhibited by the Danish pavilion on Pinduoduo’s platform.
“The CIIE is one of the most important trade events for Danish businesses in China,” said Thomas Østrup Møller, Ambassador of Denmark to China. “We believe that through participating in the Expo and the cooperation with Pinduoudo, Denmark’s high-quality food products can better serve Chinese consumers.”
The Danish consulate in Shanghai took part in a livestream with Pinduoduo in June, promoting well-known Danish brands such as cookie maker Kjeldsens, jewelry manufacturer Pandora and outerwear clothing brand RAINS. Pinduoduo is the fastest-growing major e-commerce platform in China and pioneer of an interactive form of online shopping that combines fun and value-for-money. The company has attracted close to 700 million consumers since its founding in 2015.
Pinduoduo started its cross-border e-commerce business last year and has made progress in connecting overseas brands and products to Chinese consumers.
“Through this partnership, we hope to introduce more Danish products, which are already very popular among consumers in Denmark and around the world,” said Andre Zhu, Senior Vice President of Global Affairs at Pinduoduo. “At the same time, we hope to introduce our fun, interactive and dynamic shopping platform to more Danish businesses and become a trusted partner that adds value and provide insights to their online strategy.”
